    Session time: 9:25 - 9:50 AM

Abstract: The industrial revolution of the 18th and 19th Centuries saw the reinvention of industries, economies and societies. It was a period of rapid change with profound implications. However, it was a warm-up act for the information revolution that we're just beginning. Today's much larger globally connected economy, which sits on a foundation of advanced technology already, is experiencing an explosion in device connectivity, data volumes, computing power, e-commerce and overall internet use. Australian companies and governments are grappling with complex strategic questions as the landscape shifts. Many are asking 'Who's our uber?'; i.e. who and what is the technology enabled disruptor that can make or break my business? The digital economy is rich with opportunity and challenge.
In this presentation Dr Stefan Hajkowicz - a principal scientist in strategic foresight at CSIRO's Data61 - will share his thinking on eight strategic responses companies and governments in Australia can use to survive (and prosper) in the digital economy of 2020 and beyond. In short we need to accelerate, automate, differentiate, navigate, mitigate, innovate, gravitate and cogitate. In the presentation Stefan will explain these topics and help you think about strategic responses to digital disruption.
